Malachi philosophy of serving the chaplains
Malachi believes that God's vision for Malachi allows us to minister effectively under the authority and in conjunction with the Chaplaincy, because we endeavor to help students join the heart of God and the movement of His people where they find it - not just in Malachi youth ministry. It remains one of our core values to serve the chaplains and we count it as a privilege.
Malachi structure
Malachi performs specified youth ministry in direct support of an installation's command religious program through the auspices of a negotiated non-personal services contract. The contract's funding source can be either non-appropriated or appropriated. While an independent contractor, Malachi nevertheless places its staff under the direction of designated chaplains at the installation level in the conduct of local youth ministry. As such, local Malachi staff and Malachi supervisory staff of regional field directors are immediately responsive to the needs of installation chaplains and commanders. Key Malachi leaders meet regularly with senior chaplains in the offices of the chiefs of chaplains from each service to ensure effective ministry coordination, an understanding of chaplain policies, and accountable ministry in the field on the part of Malachi staff.
Each staff member is supervised by a Regional Director who will measure and maintain the quality of youth ministry valued by Malachi and the contracting Chaplains.

What to expect from a youth worker
1. Malachi Staff are committed to serving the chapel community.
2. Malachi Staff are professionally trained youth workers who are sensitive the military context.
3. Malachi Staff approach their jobs with professionalism and possess the skills to relate to students, parents, and volunteers.
Staff raising support
Malachi Staff are funded through the military contract and support given by individuals and churches to Cadence International for individual staff. This provides for the approximately $65,000 needed for one Malachi Staff couple to live and minister at a military installation. This amount covers housing, salary, overhead and ministry expenses. This support lowers the amount of contract money needed to sustain full time youth staff at military installations. Periodically, Malachi Staff must travel to the states to have face-to-face connection with supporters. Malachi Staff coordinates these times with their respective chaplains and their Malachi Regional Leader.
Timeline for staff getting to the field
Potential staff must go through a candidacy to be appointed to serve with Malachi Ministries. After being appointed and receiving training, Malachi Staff must personally raise the remainder of the support the contract does not cover. Once the support is raised, Malachi staff travel overseas and receive training in military ministry. After this training is completed, Malachi Staff are released to an available community and begin in-processing. During this time, they complete a needs assessment and plan for the coming year of ministry.
